Fitness on a Budget

Many people these days are trying to maintain life on a budget. For some that budget is so small they really can’t afford to do much. Staying fit is not always budget friendly. You would think since people can’t afford those same luxuries that staying fit would be easy. And it is. There are many ways to stay fit on a budget. There are exercises that require little or no equipment at all. Some of those exercises include walking, jumping rope, and more. Let’s explore a few.

Everyone knows walking more is a key to staying fit. You can walk around your office or home, park farther away from your destination, take the stairs instead of the elevator and even take a brisk walk through the park or neighborhood. Regardless of how you find a way to add walking into your daily regime it will be beneficial in the long run.

Jumping rope is also an essential way to stay fit. Jump ropes are quite inexpensive. You could find them at the dollar for maybe a dollar. You may need to buy two though because they will be a bit short as most are in length for a child. If you have kids you could challenge them to a “jump off” or make fun games out of jumping rope. If you can’t find a jump rope your size you could always use extension cords, clothes lines, or maybe even make one out of braided yarn.

There are many other exercises you could do that don’t require much. Maybe a resistance band for Pilates, most come with DVD’s and cost only $10 online or a your local stores. A fitness ball is great. You could just sit there and watch TV without moving a muscle. It works so great because just to balance yourself on the ball requires work of all of your muscles though you are not moving.

You could use various household items for your workouts as well. Where your routine calls for dumbbells simply use gallon jugs of water. Start by filling the jugs partially and gradually fill them more as your routine calls for it. If you have a low step stool, you could use that for your aerobics stair climbing.

Below are some great links that I think you should follow. They provide more workout tips that will get and keep your body in shape. Overall adding more activity to your daily routine will improve your health. Don’t forget to eat a balanced diet everyday and drink plenty of water.
